Meet Charles.
Laid the tile, built the trim, designed the showers — with his own hands. 20+ years at the Lake.
Twenty-plus years. Mentored in the craft. Still building with his own hands.
Charles Cloke has been building at the Lake of the Ozarks for more than two decades. Before he founded Cloke Custom Homes in 2019, he worked under veteran Lake builders — learning the legacy of the trade in a market where terrain, water access, and local codes separate the experienced from the rest.
His reputation was built one finish at a time. Custom tile. Custom showers. Custom trim. Cabinetry. For years, Charles laid them himself. He has some help nowadays, but he is still the guy on the job site, making sure things get done right.
I believe that to get a superior custom home you need to hire someone who has invested sweat equity into their industry and to their business. For many years I was the one physically laying the custom tile, designing and laying the custom showers, building the custom trim and cabinetry. I may have a little help nowadays, but rest assured, I am the guy that is on the job site, making sure things are getting done right.
Do your homework.
Charles’s advice to anyone considering a custom home at the Lake is simple: research the companies, read the reviews, find out the track record of the builder you hire.
Do your homework, research the companies and their reviews. And I’m not saying that you need to go out and hire Cloke Custom Homes, if we’re not right for you, not a problem, but you should find out the track record of the builder you hire.
K.C. Cloke — Operations, Marketing & Business Administration
Behind every successful project is a strong operational foundation. K.C. manages the day-to-day business functions of Cloke Custom Homes, overseeing bookkeeping, project billing, marketing, communications, and administrative operations that keep the company running smoothly.
While Charles focuses on managing projects and delivering quality craftsmanship in the field, K.C. works behind the scenes to support clients through project documentation, invoicing, and other administrative needs. Her background in sales, marketing, and organizational leadership helps ensure Cloke Custom Homes remains responsive, professional, and committed to clear communication throughout the building process.
K.C. also serves as Event Coordinator and Staff Support at the same church where Charles serves as a Deacon. Faith, family, and community are foundational values for the Cloke family and continue to shape the way they serve clients and invest in the Lake area.
We’re doing more than building a home. We are building relationship with these clients.
Three truths that shape how we build.
Quality is expected. Craftsmanship is what endures.
Every builder claims quality. What Cloke delivers is the finish work that earns it — rounded edges, trim detail, cabinetry. The things you run your hand across a year later and still notice.
Relationships last longer than punch lists.
Charles takes the call two years after handoff. He helps connect past clients with vendors for future maintenance. The relationship is not transactional, and the follow-up proves it.
The Lake has its own rules. Respect them.
Lakefront terrain, driveway grades, shoreline work, local codes — they are not details you discover mid-build if you have been working this market for 20+ years. They are the first things you plan for.
Rooted at the Lake.
Cloke Custom Homes is based at the Lake of the Ozarks — not a regional office, not a build-season operation. Charles and K.C. raise their family here, worship here, and are active members of the community they build in. The Lake isn’t where they work. It’s where they live.
